Photojournalism

I had the pleasure of taking a photojournalism class in college taught by Erik Lunsford, a photojournalist at the St. Louis Post Dispatch. When I originally signed up for the class, it was titled "Digital Imaging." I was very nervous when I noticed the title of the class changed to "Photojournalism" as I didn't believe I had the eye or skills for photojournalism.

Looking back, this was one of my absolute favorite classes I took in college. As a result of this class, I learned that I have an eye for creating visual content and was introduced for the first time to Adobe Creative Suite.

Here you can see a sampling of assignments I completed for the class. Each assignment was designed to mirror common assignments that photojournalists are given such as "feature," "weather," or "portrait." The class culminated in a longer format photo story of our choosing.
